CHECK it OOUUTT!!
If you remember, back in July I was in Utah @ Bo Huff Customs for "Alpine Edge Films"
while they did a film shoot on Bo Huff for a series on "custom culture"...since then Bo HAS been inducted into
the Hot Rod Hall of Fame
... WELL I got news this morning via email from Michael Smith @ Alpine
that he was in post-production on the project. We all met last month in Vegas for a "reunion"
and to get a little more footage...Mike informed me that he had some new stuff on the promo site---
so I checked it out, and it's looking really KOOL!  So have a look if you're a little curious~~pretty neat!

Glastenbury, Ct.

Since it’s almost the end of our rodding season here in the Northeast, The kats down south of me figured
they should pull out all the stops 1-LAST-TIME! They advertised in OL’ SKOOL RODS w/ a full page,
and had every intention to let it ALL-HANG-OUT!….Northeast STYLE!  As I was smashing out illos.,
the bands were rocking out HEAVY! A good friend of mine, Charlie Decker…aka…’da “1 ARMED BanDit”
co-hosted the show….this kat is SICK, when he’s not pulling killer lines on the ass of a car, he’s boasting a
1-off show…..wtf?…. Not only was this their 1st annual show, but the raffle tickets were sold out in the
first 2 hours!, AND they loaded the field w/ close to 300 cars….OL’ SKOOL RODZ even had a booth set up…
pretty cool…As I’ve bragged in the past about all of us northeast rodderz’…we know the season is short,
so we do it f’n HARD…SO GLAD I WENT. Let the beer flow, and let the muzik bounce! ….Northeast STYLE!

     ~~Las Vegazzzz~~

What a show! But to my misfortune, it rained the first morning…rain in Vegas?….ya’ great.

4 bands rocked the scene, and kept the large crowd “flowing”.
Like with most shows I attend, there were many different breeds of rides.
This show was no exception. The energy level was high, and the cars were low, LoW, LOW
to the ground…they can get away with that out there, here in Vermont, the car would get ripped apart.
I was stuck on east coast time, so to help my efforts, I simply stayed awake…I payed the price when I got home.

Again, what a SHOW!…glad I went.

BAD-2-THE-BONE
Hot Rod & Chopper Festival
MaTtOon, IlliNoIs

Was out in the “mid-west” this past weekend, attending the 2nd annual
Bad-2-the-Bone festival put on by Williams Street Rods, and the city of Mattoon, Il.
There was lots to do, and everyone had a great time, my son, and myself included.
There was a special appearance by “Kount Kennedy” and his flaming hearse and coffins.
The kids really loved the flames. The weather was spectacular, staying in the mid 70’s all weekend long.
Williams Street Rods really knows how to put on a show! You should check them out sometime.

NSRA North East NATIONALS

The leaves are changing here, but they had nothing on the “hot rod foliage” that was happening
inside the 75 acre compound @ the NSRA N.E. Nationals, held at the Champlain Valley Exposition Center.

With over 1300 Hot Rods in attendance, it was by far the biggest show I had been to this year.

Friday was clear, but it rained on Saturday, and Sunday.
New England “Rodders” know the season is short up here for Hot Rodding,
so they all held strong, and kept the rain wiped from the chrome.

A great time was had by all, myself included!

“Eastern States Naties”
Berlin, Ct.

The show was fantastik! Did many live drawings, and took so many fotoz that my camera wanted to cry.
Ran into “Creepy Crawler” , a car that I drew for “Kustoms Illustrated” back in April..
let me tell-U that is one bad-ass car in person! And I’m always running into Charlie “Bandit”
usually seeing only the back of his head…’cause his attention is always on a car pulling killer lines!
Love watching that kat stripe!
There were well over 1000 cars that attended, and so much drool on the midway from the thousands of spectators, that I had to watch my step.
My Mapquest direktions told me it was 180 plus miles one-way to get there…
and it WAS WORTH EVERY MILE!

Back from Utah, had a blast…it was f’n crazzzzy. The cameras rolled, the bands ZOOOOOOOMED.

When the motorcycle tank was done, I had 17 hours, and 107 shades of different kolors into the project.

While I was there, I wanted to take it all in and not miss a second of it.
SO I set up camp in the junk-yard out back behind Bo’s museum.
Pretty neat to fall asleep under the Utah sky. It was way hot, and way dry..
took a little bit for this Vermont blood to get established to the climate.
The Rockabilly models were gorgeous to put it mildly….snicker---don’t make ‘em like that back east…
at least I never saw girls that looked like that (especially Jazzy B.----hello Jazz ).

I left with a shirt loaded with autographs from all of my newly made friends…
VERY KOOL…
and promises to “keep in touch”

I will attend the show next year.. and spin out another piece of artwork…btw,
I kept my promise from the previous “kool nuze” article…I left behind one SICK piece of “pin-up” art on that bike tank…

Scottie keeps his promises. Want to see a glimpse of what was goin’ on out there?….hit this site, and see it alllllll. www.alpineedgefilmsbohuffcustoms.tv

Still lots of editing to do from this past weekend…but that should be up in the next few months.
And then you can see me all overtired trying to do an interview…laugh---I got NO sleep…arg.

Peace-OUT

Headed to Utah, East Carbon to be exact. I was invited out by Bo Huff, of “Bo Huff Customs”
to attend his annual show…but also, to get some work done.. I will be at his hot rod shop doing a
piece of “pin-up” artwork on one of his motorcycle tanks….While I am there, ALPINE EDGE FILMS
will also be in attendance doing a shoot on “custom culture”. Bo has invited anyone who is a
“somebody” ..ie: editors, rockabilly models, photographers, etc. to attend the show..

Every year he puts on a 4 day party..he opens up his shop, and museum
(yea’ he has a car museum, doesn’t everyone?…snicker).
--It will be 5 Days, and 4 nights of bands, hot rods, break-stands, hood rats, booze, Rockabilly
…and crazy acts of human nature….we call that being a “freak” on the east coast…
don’t know what they call it in East Carbon?….

He does everything BIG TIME---I am stoked to say the least, just to be a part of it!..
and I promise to try and get some sleep while I am there…I also plan to leave behind one killer
mural on that motorcycle tank! Zooooooooooooooom………

Rod-On!”

We did it!
We pulled off our own line of hot-rod wear...who are "we" you might ask?
Well there are 2 of us...'cause I can't think up all of this side-wayz stuff on my own!
My partner in crime is a VERY talented designer out of northern Vermont,
maybe you've seen his banner flickering at the bottom of my home page, as well as on my link page...
Dave Curtis
, from "DC Graphics"...we share a passion for giving all of you stuff that you have never seen before...
AND it all comes from VERMONT--AMERIKA!!!......we hope we have satisfied your hunger...and if you're still hungry?
sit at the table a bit longer....the 2nd course hasn't even been put down in front of you yet...
besides, this first "course" is hot! better blow on it for a bit!...
zoooooooooooom ----  flooooooooow!

It was awesome at the LACONIA NATIONALS!

I planned on going ONLY as a spectator, but I did bring my clip-board, pencils, and portfolio…(snicker…)

So I wasn’t sad when I was asked to do a few live sketches (always need gas $$, right?) with Coppertone slathered all over me,
pencils sharp, and an eraser that’s EVER ready…. I was ready to
ZOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!---

Met a REAL KOOL KAT that went to the same sign school that I went to, and we hit it off like we had always known each other.
He was at the show pinstriping… …”Charlie”…aka…“Bandit!” ……he threw down some killer lines…it even made my left hand quiver
just watching…Instinct told me 2 scoop a brush out of his paint box, drop it in the 1-shot,  and let it FLY!  But I digressed,
and just enjoyed watching him lay down his own style.  There were lots of old friends to see… and lots of firm handshakes…

With 400 plus rides of every breed, and era, with NO “trailer queens”….(gotta’ love that)…it was just like being in hot-rod heaven!

Rodders’ R -COOL!

Peace-

Wet like a duck! but that didn't stop all the bike psychos' on the track....they sounded like a THUNDER STORM!
....and Zack the "sonic boom" was ALWAYS out front....this crew is so tight, they are almost one person...
and I was glad just to be a part of it. I tried to act like I knew what I was doing, but I'm a car guy, not a bike riding freak!
any of you looking to toss your money in a great direction? Send it to these boyz....IT WON'T BE WASTED...they are raw, they are real,
they are what bike racing is all about. Check them out on my link page--even I support their vision!
Peace-OUT!

So here we are! Mansfield, CT---livin' large!
The day was perfect...and being a true "dubber"...it was as close to heaven as you could get!
The park was packed with good energy...and Jeremy, the host, was a real kool kat!
Even though I got lost twice on the way,  and the 394 miles round-trip boasting on my passat 1.8t's odometer...
it was STILL well worth it.
Did several live drawings, and left with an intense sun burn...
I would encourage anyone within 200 miles of this place, to hit this show next year--
I'll be there...and at least now I know the way!...."rod-on"
