SEMA SHOW `07

!! SIN~CITY, USA !!

The SEMA show was surreal to put it mildly. As I mentioned b4 I was out there to be with the
Williams Street Rod 1932 HOT ROD SKOOL BUS!

The ole `32 had so much attention that we couldn’t have all been more proud. Terry and Sheryl had an interview with speed channel, they had simply NEVER seen anything like this bus before. Let me paint a quick picture of this bus..and btw, I hate calling it a “bus”..it’s way tooooooo BAD-ASS to be called a bus. The 1932 was completed in 14 months which is unheard of, ya 14 MONTHS. The ass was shortened 30 inches, and the top slammed another 10.

We spent one night @ the SEMA awards banquet where the bus was displayed along with
the other 5 top SEMA choice pics. Yes, we were proud!

Ran into Bo Huff, seem to always be running into that KAT…and also had the pleasure of making some new friends. One friend that stands out is Terry’s Uncle Randall..i had the pleasure of meeting this fellow for the first time when I flew out to attend the SEMA show with the  Bus.. I only got to get to know Randall for such a brief time it seems, but there was a reason that we crossed paths..and I am thankful for that. This fellow that I only got to spend 3 days with left a seriously deep impression on me. He was so proud to be a part of the event and so proud of his nephew, Terry. I got word the following Tuesday that Randall had passed away.. shared a few tears but then smiled for I knew that he was up in the sky with the HOT ROD GODS..SO, Randall..if you are up there I want you to shine down on us like a guardian angle. Make our chrome sparkle even more; watch over us when we attend our shows and make sure we always get there safely for sometimes the distance we travel is great..thank you my friend..you are in my chest forever!  I will always admire you more then you could ever have known! Bless you Randall…

Peace~Love~and HOT RODS forever!

! HOT ROD FALLOUT !
Glastonbury, Ct.

“Pretty please with sugar on TOP!” is what you would have said when you attended the 2nd annual HOT ROD FALLOUT down in Glastonbury. What a great way to zoom down our season in the Northeast. This year’s was even better then last with at least one hundred extra cars. 5 bands light up the air non-stop with the sickest rockabilly music you could ever ask for. Yup, the HOT ROD GODS were shining down on us that day giving us stellar weather and non-stop good energy. You want to attend this show, by far one of the best I have EVER attended!

!! SEMA~SIN CITY !!

Bouncing a jet plane 2 Sin~CiTy for the annual Sema event.
I have been told that this show is "OFF THE HOOK!"
Nope, never been to SEMA; however i have smaked vegas many times this past year. I will be out there to be featured in Williams' Street Rods booth with their bad ass 1932 PRO STREET Hot Rod Ford Skool Bus. This is the bus that i had the pleasure in assisting with in it's dezign process. This `32 BAD~ASS has ALREADY been chosen to be one of a few picked by SEMA as a feature @ the event. This bus has a wrap sheet of Kra-den-tials longer then most resumes; grabbing the ppg award for best paint as soon as it landed @ the Louisville naties...Yup, 1 word....it's "SICK!"
You going to SEMA? look me up, I have many meetings while i am there already slated..but kicking back and having some fun should be fit in as well.
Ya, here's that bus..isn't she a beauty?

 Alter Boys Show !
Worcester, Mass.

Wow, what a premier show! Having 150 or so cars in an intimate and nostalgic setting was like stepping back in time as soon as you walked into the parking lot of Ralph’s Diner. The Alter Boys are well known in the northeast for being very particular as to whom they let inside of their show; not ride makes the cut. For this you are assured the cream of the crop when it comes to tradionals, kustoms, and “home builts’.” I had Art Stacy, my photographer with me  for this one too, we both agreed that this was a show to mark on the calendar for next year. What a great way to wrap up the end of our hot rod season in the northeast.

TYRODS 35th Annual  `Ole Timers’ Reunion

With over 900 registered hot rods, kustoms, gassers, and rat rods the brain was in full foam the minute I walked through the gate. With me, was my son, Tray and my good friend Arthur Stacy who assisted me by taking photographs. Considering that it was only a 1 day event with over 900 cars to check out; meant that you almost had to jog through the show. Add the fact that it rained cats and dogs made it even more of a task. BUT!! No one has ever melted by being rained on; so it was all taken in stride…. The Tyrod group also had a few special guest there in attendance that flew all the way in from Kalifornia ; “ SO~CALS “  own Pete Chapouris and Jimmy Shine.  It was nice to finally meet them both in person. With constant rain bursts on and off during the course of the day, everyone was on there toes jumping puddles; yet no one ever complained…what a great show! Special thanks to Arthur Stacy for the fantastik fotos!

Berlin, Ct.

Wow… what an event!

The skies were blue the air was “gray.” “Gray”, you ask? Why yes it was from the smokeshows..aka..”BURNOUT Competition.”  As always I ran into many old friends and also had the pleasure of making some new ones. I arrived in Ct. the night before and rolled to the gate first thing Saturday morning. WOW, I was the first one in the parking lot (weird). Last year I was 20 rows deep and had to thumb a ride in; guess the early bird catches the worm. There was so much to see and be had that if you were a spectator there is no way you would have been let down. My pencils started rolling first thing that morning and went well into the afternoon. I would estimate at least 500 rides of all breeds; out of those 500 rides 15 of them got penciled in “show style sketch” form. Thanks to the Right Coast crew for putting on a spectacular event….~BLISS

Well if you were a lizard you couldn’t have asked for better weather..90 plus degreez and sunny. With over 350 Hot Rods and Kustoms, throw in the 50 or so Choppers and Bobbers and you had the ingredients for a killer show. I also had the pleasure of meeting “baby mike”, all 3 feet and 35 pounds of him, what a cute “little shaver” he was.. The bands SMASHED it out SiDe~WaYz until 2 am Sunday morning never letting up even for a moment. Vendors’ row was packed with all kinds of cool stuff, pretty much anything you wanted could be found. I also had the pleasure of kovering this event for Ol’ Skool Rodz, promising them only the best from the northeast. Oh!, and let’s not forget the illo. smashing~ yup the Bat-Man bag was all set and ready to roll. Pencils sharp as razors and fresh paper willing and able. Can you beat that?…crazy~

These boys @ the MILLTOWN show do everything BIG TIME, yes’sah!

!! Road Agents Hot Rod and RoCkAbiLLy RuMbLe !!

The Road Agent show never disappoints! Held down in E. Hartford, Ct. on Firday and Saturday..you couldn’t have asked for better weather.
The “Hot Rod Kompound” was loaded with 325 cars and there still wasn’t e’nuff room.. So they let the over flow load up in the parking lot
just outside the gate with another 100 plus rides.
My head was on overload, so much to see..so many cars to draw.
All I can say is that I am glad that I had 2 days to check everything out. There’s not many shows out there that meet the caliber of the show
held by the Road Agents, they set a standard for sure.
If you can, try and hit this show.. you’ll be so glad you did!

Well Bo’s show was FaNtAsTiK as always!

Bo Huff Show

4 bands, Mama Hagglin, Prom Night Prowlers, Wild Turkey, and Mad Max and the wildones’ lit up the Utah night on all 3 nights that I was there. There was much to see, as always. Like killer flame shows, amazing rides from the western seaboard, and ofcourse the rockabilly girls. To my misfortune I NEVER took a single picture, guess I was busy drawing and taking it all in. BUT to my fortune I ran into the highly accredited, Ms. Anna Marco. What a doll, she spun me out a disk loaded with killer shots. So the pictures you see here?, well i had nothing to do with them. I'm only showing you a “blink”, if you want to see more? hit the show yourself!..TRUST ME, you’ll be glad you did! Charlie/Bandit had a great time himself, and the people there were amazed with his pinstriping skills.. I’m so glad he decided to come along, it showed these people what “we” boys from the NoRtHeAsT” are all about. YUP, SMAK~DOWN! Bo’s show is carved into my right forearm as a “must go to” every year from here on out. AGAIN, thank you ANNA MARCO for the killer shots, mighty grand!

PaSo rObLeS ’07

Finally got the pics in from the show, THANKS Frankie!

So here goes, my brain was on fire the whole time I was there!

There were well over 900 cars as well as ATLEAST 100 thousand spectators in attendance during the course of the 3 day event.
I ran into many friends such as Max Grundy, Tick, Kent Reppert, Kim Falcon, Doug Dorr, the whole gang from “Koolhouse” publishing and Gordy Brown. I also had the pleasure of making some new friends such the crew from Smokin’ SHUTDOWN (
Berlin, Germany), “Zombie” from Rod & Kulture, Bill Hines, Gene Winfield, Alan Foose and of course Chip…all REAL nice people. During the event I drew a total of 28 cars, my pencils were sMoKiN’. Being at the Paso show was like stepping into heaven, I have never seen anything like it and will most definitely carve this in stone as a “must go to” show! There’s no doubt in my mind, I will head out there again next year and smash it out all over again…

And a SPECIAL thanks goes out to Frankie Briseno of “Greaser’s Alley” for showing me what Kalifornia iz all about, mighty grand~

!! PROJECT ’54 SMAK-DOWN !!

 Runaround Sue

The project?..a 1954 Chevy Bel-Air..The job?…2 let it all hang out NORTHEAST style!
The car arrived from Waterloo, N.Y.. The owner of this beaut?, my good friend Jayson Bourne.
AND yes he drove that 54 the 6+ hour journey to my
ShAcK in Vermont. NO TRAILER QUEENS here!
I also had the well-known and highly proclaimed (snicker) Charlie Decker/”Bandit” come up from Connecticut
to do the line work on the ’54.
And me?, well I was there to lay down the “pin-ups” and lettering.
By the end of the job’s completion we had approx. 20 hours each in the project over the course
of the 2-day
ExtRaVaGaNzA! Jayson left that Wednesday with a smile stretched from earlobe to earlobe…
I’d say that was mighty grand! To
“roll out” a ’54 totally

OL ‘SKOOL not only made Charlie and I feel proud, but we also know we made that 54’s soul smile way-BIG!
And that’s what it’s all about.

Peace~

!! ViVa LaS vEgAs !!

Simply put, the show was GRAND!

The weather was perfect, and Charlie was kind enough to not cut anyone with his sharp linez.
By the end of the event I had drawn 26 cars, my pencils were smoking! Ran into Bo Huff and his gang,
as well as Rick Murray of “Krazy Kreations” of Colorado. This kat is one of Amerika’s best customizers.
To be in his presence was pretty cool. I’ll be rolling out there next year for sure. Next month?, California
for the “Paso Robles” show. A “Green Mountain Boy” on the west coast, this should be fun! See you there…

!!! VIVA LAS VEGAS !!!

Rolling out to LasVegas this weekend for the Viva Vegas car show.

I’m not rolling out there solo either. Taking my close friend Charlie Decker..aka..
”BANDIT” with me. 2 Northeast boys jumping a plane to “Sin~City”.

This isn’t just all fun (though we will fit some in)..this is biz too~ Charlie is rolling out there with all his
sword stripers with intentions to lay some killer lines. I also believe he is bringing band-aids in case anyone
gets cut on those sharp lines of his.  And me…my Bat-Man illo. bag loaded with my goods.
I am also covering the event for 3 syndicates while I am there.
DRIVE!, American Street Rydes, and Cruisin’ Style Magazine.

There will be much to see and do…I’ll definitely post some pics for you all to see.

Maybe we’ll see you there? Just look for the guy on the ground SMASHING OUT illustrations of the killer rides!
